The vernal equinox was on the 20th March. Equinox comes from the Latin: aequus means equal, level, or calm. Nox means night, or darkness. In the Spring as in the Autumn , the equinox is a time when the day and the night are as close to each other as they ever are, and when the hours of day and night are exactly equal for people living equidistant from the equator either North or South. The idea of balancing dark and light is a magical one and the theme of balance is woven into my poem Pwllpeiran.
