‘Why This Is Very Midsummer Madness’

Creative Writing Workshop

Midsummer Madness – The Shortest Night of the Year

‘Lovers and madmen have such seething brains,
Such shaping fantasies, that apprehend
More than cool reason ever comprehends.
The lunatic, the lover and the poet
Are of imagination all compact..’

A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act V, Scene I.

Monday, June 22nd 6.00pm – 10.00pm

Sugnall Walled Garden invites you into its garden, woods and walks to listen to some of the poetry and prose written about this magical time of the year, and to create your own.

Bring your favourite poem to read, along with local writer, Elizabeth Jardine Godwin, who will share other pieces of literature about gardens on a midsummer’s night.  Between 7-9pm there will be exercises to prompt your own thoughts about this bewitching time of year, and a chance to wander the Walled Garden and its walks as inspiration. The evening will end by sharing our pieces of writing.

£ 45.00 to include a glass of wine or soft drink.
